Salt Lake City, UT, July 29, 2026 —
OREM, Utah – A community gathered in Orem, Utah, to hold a funeral service for Provo Fire Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina, and their three sons: Reid, Thayne, and Gage. The family tragically died in a flash flood event that occurred in Wayne County, Utah, approximately two weeks before the service.
The funeral service saw attendance from members of the community and firefighters from across the state of Utah, all present to pay their respects to Captain Long and his family.
In addition to the memorial for the Long family, a separate fundraiser has been established. This initiative is dedicated to supporting Lydia Vernon, Katrina Long’s daughter, who was not present with the family at the time of the fatal flood incident.
