Collins has represented survivors of domestic violence through his pro bono partnership with the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence (ATASK) since 2026. The Chinese-speaking family law attorney and founder of JZ Collins Law takes on divorce, custody, and annulment cases for survivors across Massachusetts, building on earlier pro bono work with Kids in Need of Support (KIND) and Catholic Charities of America.

Collins is Chinese-American, and that background shapes how he sees his cases. Domestic violence and coercive control often go overlooked in Asian communities. Collins has seen this up close, and it shows in how he handles every case ATASK refers to him.

In one recent matter, Collins represented an ATASK client facing an annulment lawsuit filed by her former abuser, litigation she and ATASK characterized as an attempt to continue harassing her after she left the relationship. Collins successfully defended against the claim, allowing his client to move forward without further legal entanglement with her former partner.

Collins has also helped ATASK clients reunite with children after periods of separation and negotiate favorable property divisions, giving survivors a stronger financial footing as they rebuild their lives.
