BeaverCON Brings Beaver Restoration Leaders to Minneapolis for Science, Field Learning, and Collaboration

Convening scientists, restoration practitioners, land managers, & community leaders to advance beaver-based watershed restoration and human-beaver coexistence

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Beaver Institute will bring together scientists, restoration practitioners, land managers, conservation professionals, and community leaders from across North America this September for BeaverCON 2026, a conference dedicated to advancing beaver-based restoration, human-beaver coexistence, and resilient watersheds.

BeaverCON 2026 will take place September 28–30 in Minneapolis, bringing the beaver-based restoration community to the Midwest at a time of increasing interest in nature-based approaches to water management, habitat restoration, and climate resilience.

Beavers are ecosystem engineers whose dams and wetland complexes can reshape how water moves across a landscape. Under the right conditions, beaver activity can reconnect streams with floodplains, expand wetland habitat, support biodiversity, and contribute to greater resilience to drought, flooding, and wildfire. BeaverCON brings together the people researching, managing and applying these processes in communities and watersheds across North America.

BeaverCON 2026 will give attendees the opportunity to explore research, case studies, management strategies, and on-the-ground approaches from across the field. The conference program also includes a formal poster session and opportunities to join field experiences and workshops.

Dr. Emily Fairfax of the University of Minnesota will kick off the event with an opening keynote, leveraging her many years of experience as a leading ecohydrologist. Dr. Fairfax’s work spans the country, including consulting for the Disney-Pixar film “Hoppers”.
