A decade building Domino’s partnerships, investments, executive team, and solutions strategy positions Robinson to lead Domino’s next chapter
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Domino Data Lab today announced it has appointed former Chief Operating Officer (COO) Thomas Robinson as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company’s evolution into an enterprise AI solutions platform provider. Co-founder and former CEO Nick Elprin now leads Domino’s product and engineering organization as Chief Product Officer (CPO), President, and chairman of the board.
Nearly four years into AI’s historic business disruption, enterprises still can’t tap its promised potential. To close this gap, Domino has become the substrate for enterprise AI solutions that customers use to transform their business: compressing investment research from days to minutes, retraining defense models dozens of times faster, and speeding new drugs to market. As COO, Robinson recognized this need to move AI beyond experiments to solutions that fuel better human judgment. He evolved Domino’s go-to-market strategy and designed partnerships tailored for implementing enterprise AI systems across highly regulated industries.
“AI’s promise turns real when systems of models move people closer to making better judgments,” Robinson said. “In the enterprise, this means putting AI solutions into action for people who solve real problems for the world’s health, security, and safety. It’s the honor of my career to lead Domino through this next chapter as the enterprise AI solutions platform underpinning this shift.”
“With over a decade of experience working with advanced organizations to deploy mission-critical AI, Domino is uniquely well-positioned to help companies lead in this next era of enterprise transformation,” Elprin said. “Thomas understands better than anyone what that takes. I’m incredibly grateful for his leadership and thrilled to be working with him in his new role.”
Building Domino’s Solutions Foundation
In addition to building Domino’s partner network from the ground up, Robinson fostered relationships with NVIDIA, Snowflake, NetApp, and UBS, all of which backed the company as investors.
“Thomas recognized early that data infrastructure and AI platforms are fundamentally interconnected, and that strategic insight, combined with his deep understanding of the market, is what makes him uniquely positioned to lead Domino,” said George Kurian, CEO at NetApp. “We are proud to partner with Thomas and his team and look forward to working together to help define the next chapter of enterprise AI.”
Robinson shaped Domino’s go-to-market strategy and team, then, as architect of Domino’s solutions strategy, designed the approach and made it work in practice — in close partnership with customers, including major government agencies, financial services firms, and life sciences organizations. The result is the operating foundation Robinson now leads as CEO.
“Thomas is leading enterprises toward a bigger way of thinking about AI value, starting with the business problem and working backward to the solution,” said Rob Bearden, CEO at Sema4.ai and a Domino board member. “I’ve watched him build that discipline into Domino’s strategy for years, and it’s rare to see a leader hold that line as consistently as he has. I can’t wait to see the impact for Domino’s customers.”
“Sophisticated models alone don’t drive enterprise AI success,” said Frank Long, Head of AI and Partner at Coatue Management. “The true measure is whether people have access to relevant intelligence, grounded in protected proprietary data, in a form the business can trust. Closing that gap, from raw model capability to mission-critical decisions, is where AI leaders should focus.”
A Partner for AI Solutions
AI leaders have a last-mile problem. Models reach production and stop short of the business. Domino’s 2026 Enterprise AI Report puts numbers on it: 40% of organizations still move AI output to business users through a scheduled report or a request to a data scientist, and 41% are scaling or piloting agentic AI without the governance to manage it.
Domino helps enterprises close that gap through talent and technology:
- Talent: Domino’s forward-deployed engineers are expert builders who work within the customer’s environment and understand how to leverage the diversity of AI tools and the Domino platform to bring innovation and efficiency to customers.
- Technology: Domino is a unified platform that underpins the building, scaling, governance, and integration of AI systems for mission-critical enterprise workflows. Domino’s open platform supports models from statistical to generative AI, while providing the trust and safety required for high-consequence AI impact in regulated industries.
Through these elements, the process changes: AI is inside the work rather than alongside it.
In practice, these solutions include a quant-research agent co-built with a global investment firm, ones that help some of the largest pharmaceutical companies bring new cures to market sooner, and target-recognition models deployed at the tactical edge by defense organizations.
