New expansion will introduce independent living residences; a vibrant Town Center and hospitality-inspired amenities for the next generation of older adults.
LEMONT, IL, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Franciscan Village, a premier Life Plan Community and part of Franciscan Ministries sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, today announced the name of its transformational campus expansion: The Veridian at Franciscan Village. The expansion represents a significant investment in the future of senior living, introducing thoughtfully designed independent living residences, dynamic community spaces and hospitality-inspired amenities centered on connection, purpose and joy.
Inspired by the word verdant, meaning green, flourishing and full of life, The Veridian at Franciscan Village represents growth, renewal and the opportunity to embrace what comes next. While Franciscan Village remains the trusted community residents and families know and love, The Veridian at Franciscan Village represents a new chapter – one that welcomes both current and future generations of residents while honoring the mission and legacy that have guided the community for decades.
The expansion builds upon Franciscan Village’s enduring mission to Celebrate Life and Serve with Joy and its Living Joyfully philosophy. More than an investment in new residences and amenities, The Veridian at Franciscan Village reflects a commitment to creating an environment where older adults can continue to grow, connect and flourish with purpose.
Through The Veridian at Franciscan Village, Joy Lives Here comes to life as an invitation for older adults to experience a community where meaningful relationships, new possibilities and everyday moments of joy are part of daily life. That invitation is reflected through intentional design, engaging experiences and opportunities to continue living fully.
Designed to meet the evolving expectations of today’s active older adults, The Veridian at Franciscan Village will add 92 independent living apartment homes, ranging from 875 to 1,585 square feet, along with a newly envisioned Town Center that will serve as the social heart of the community. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to encourage connection, support lifelong wellness and create opportunities for residents to live each day with confidence, purpose and joy.
The Town Center will feature hospitality-inspired spaces designed to bring people together throughout the day, including multiple dining experiences, a café and bar, private dining spaces, wellness and fitness amenities, creative arts spaces, a library, clubroom, game room and the elegant SkyView Lounge offering panoramic views of the 30-acre campus and the distant Chicago skyline. Residents will also enjoy a beautifully landscaped courtyard featuring outdoor dining, walking paths and gathering spaces designed to seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor living.
“Franciscan Village has always been a place where relationships matter and where every resident is encouraged to live life fully,” said Regina Umanskiy, President and CEO of Franciscan Ministries. “The Veridian at Franciscan Village reflects our commitment to creating spaces that inspire connection, promote well-being, and allow residents to continue writing meaningful chapters of their lives. Every decision has been guided by our belief that joy should be experienced every day.”
The expansion responds to the growing demand among today’s older adults for communities that offer more than maintenance-free living. Increasingly, individuals are seeking environments that support active lifestyles, lifelong learning, wellness, hospitality and meaningful social engagement long before healthcare services are needed.
“People are making decisions about senior living much earlier than they did even a decade ago,” said Lindsey Lavery, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Franciscan Ministries. “They’re looking for communities that reflect how they want to live – not simply where they may someday receive care. The Veridian at Franciscan Village allows us to meet those expectations while remaining true to the mission, values and sense of belonging that have always defined Franciscan Village.”
Inspired by the Franciscan Ministries philosophy of Living Joyfully, The Veridian has been thoughtfully designed around the Seven Dimensions of Wellness – supporting physical, spiritual, social, emotional, intellectual, environmental and occupational well-being. From gathering with neighbors over a chef-prepared meal and participating in wellness programs to enjoying live entertainment, exploring creative pursuits or sharing conversation over coffee, residents will experience an environment designed to foster belonging, enrich everyday life and create meaningful opportunities for connection. The Veridian also reflects Franciscan Ministries’ ongoing commitment to responsible stewardship and long-term investment in the communities it serves.
“For generations, the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have responded to the changing needs of older adults with compassion, innovation and faith,” Umanskiy said. “This expansion continues that legacy by creating new opportunities for residents to experience community, connection and joy while ensuring Franciscan Village remains a trusted destination for generations to come.”
As one of the region’s premier Life Plan Communities, Franciscan Village provides residents with the confidence of a full continuum of services and the peace of mind that supportive resources are available should needs change over time. This combination of lifestyle, hospitality and mission-centered care has made Franciscan Village a trusted choice for older adults and their families throughout the Chicagoland region.
Planning and pre-development activities for The Veridian at Franciscan Village are currently underway. Individuals interested in learning more about the expansion, receiving future updates or joining the Priority Club are encouraged to contact Franciscan Village for additional information.
