Crafted for versatility across all cold-weather adventures, the Lifty serves as the ultimate essential from the first chair up the mountain, to the last run. Designed for all-conditions and environments, the water-repellent hat offers full coverage of warmth across the head and neck while maintaining a lightweight composition by design.

“I grew up going to Mammoth, and we get to the snow as often as possible as a family,” said Brian McDonell, Co-Founder and CEO of melin. “Building a hat that works across every part of the mountain has been an obsession of mine for years. Designed to keep the head warm in the coldest conditions, the THERMAL MAC Lifty’s key features include:

  • All-Conditions Exterior: Intended for the mountain, the exterior materials are water and snow repellent, including anti-rust silicone trims designed to outlast every winter element.
  • ThermoShield Microfleece Neck Flap: The Microfleece Liner extends to the flap providing full coverage with one continuous layer of warmth across the head and neck and from ear to ear. The flap seamlessly folds up, off of the body for when the wind, rain, or snow slows.
  • Lightweight Composition: Where warmth can typically mean weight, the Lifty is intentionally lightweight, designed in their Eagle style with an unstructured, relaxed fit.
  • Cloud Visor Core: A thin layer of melin’s proprietary buoyant visor core is welded with EVA foam to create a lightweight and comfortable visor that contours to your head, repels water and snow, and packs away easily.
  • Helmet Adaptation: melin removed the top Sqautchee button so the hat can comfortably fit underneath a helmet.
  • Dynamic Fit Circumference: A larger sweatband provides warmth and cinches to create the perfect fit without a snapback closure.

The Lifty was also wear-tested by Jake Pates, two-time Olympic snowboarder and member of the melin Family.
