Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach homeowners receive the largest rate reduction Kin has taken in Florida
CHICAGO, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Kin, the direct-to-consumer provider of insurance and home finance solutions for homeowners, today announced it reduced homeowners insurance rates by an average of more than 20% for new and existing Florida policyholders in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties.
“The reforms championed by the Governor’s Office, the Insurance Commissioner, and state legislators are making a difference, and you can see it most clearly in South Florida,” said Kin Chief Insurance and Compliance Officer Angel Conlin. “There’s still more work to do, but our data shows the market is getting healthier. When the economics improve, we want our customers to benefit.”
According to OIR’s July 2026 Property Insurance Stability Report, the litigation picture has improved more sharply in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties than anywhere else in Florida, with HO3 litigation rates by loss year falling from 24.1% in 2022 to 2.0% in 2025, though the three counties remain the most litigated region in the state. While the industry has faced volatility, Kin has not executed a state-wide rate increase for Florida homeowners in three years and continues to deliver stable, accessible coverage.
“Florida has more property exposed to hurricane risk than anywhere else in the United
States, and South Florida sits at the center of that challenge. It’s also one of the most important markets to get right. Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties represent nearly a quarter of Florida’s owner-occupied homes. We’ve built our business to serve homeowners in places like this. Now we’re growing here in South Florida and lowering prices at the same time,” said Conlin. “It is critically important that Florida continue the progress of making insurance more affordable for these homeowners. Kin is committed to working with the Florida legislators, insurance regulators, and the Governor’s office to ensure home insurance remains both affordable and accessible to Floridians.”
To further assist homeowners, Kin raised the maximum total insured value it can insure to $14 million, including for DP3 policies. The expanded limit allows Kin to better serve the higher-value properties throughout Florida, including those concentrated in the Tri-County area.
Kin also introduced several discounts for all qualifying Floridians in 2026. Each applies to homeowners who meet its specific eligibility criteria:
- A discount for bundling auto coverage with a Kin home policy
- A senior discount for home policies, with eligibility broadened to age 50 and up
- An early quote discount for customers who quote 7 days before the effective date of coverage
- A home buyer discount for homes purchased within the past 10 years
Kin operates in 14 states — Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia — which, together, make up 50% of the Total Addressable Market for home insurance. Known for its positive customer experience, Kin earns a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Google based on more than 9,322 customer reviews, an A+ and 4.8 out of 5 rating with the Better Business Bureau based on 2,006 customer reviews, and an “Excellent” rating of 4.9 out of 5 on Trustpilot.com based on 8,287 customer reviews (as of September 10, 2026).
