The Georgia sales manager shares why coaching, mentorship, and consistent communication are the foundation of high-performing sales teams.
FLOWERY BRANCH, GA / ACCESS Newswire / August 11, 2026 / Strong sales teams are often recognized for the results they produce, but according to Dragos Teodor, those results begin long before monthly sales reports are reviewed. They begin with leadership that focuses on developing people.
As Sales Manager at Akins Ford CDJR, Dragos has seen firsthand how investing in employees can strengthen both team performance and the customer experience. Rather than viewing leadership as simply managing numbers or tracking performance, he believes that a manager’s role is to help individuals build confidence, improve their skills, and continue growing throughout their careers.
“People often assume leadership is about having all the answers,” says Dragos Teodor. “I think it’s more about helping the people around you find their own answers. When someone becomes more confident and capable, the entire team becomes stronger.”
Throughout his career in automotive sales and finance, Dragos has observed that every employee brings different strengths, learning styles, and experiences to the workplace. Because of that, he believes successful coaching cannot rely on a one-size-fits-all approach.
“Some people learn by watching. Others learn by doing,” he explains. “Taking the time to understand how each person grows allows you to coach more effectively instead of expecting everyone to develop the same way.”
Dragos believes communication is one of the most valuable tools a leader has. While performance metrics provide useful information, they rarely explain the full picture behind an individual’s progress. Open conversations often reveal opportunities to coach, encourage, and support employees in ways that performance reports alone cannot.
“Numbers tell you what happened,” he says. “Conversations help you understand why. Once you understand the person behind the numbers, you have a much better chance of helping them improve.”
He also emphasizes that mentorship extends beyond teaching technical skills. Building confidence, encouraging questions, and creating an environment where employees feel comfortable asking for guidance all contribute to long-term professional growth.
According to Dragos, leaders who invest time in coaching often create stronger workplace cultures because employees become more willing to collaborate, share ideas, and support one another.
“When people know they’re supported, they’re more willing to take ownership of their work and continue learning,” he says. “That benefits the individual, the team, and ultimately the customer.”
His perspective has also shaped the way he approaches customer relationships. He believes confident, well-prepared employees are better equipped to listen carefully, communicate clearly, and help customers make informed decisions during one of the largest purchases they may ever make.
For Dragos, developing people is not a short-term strategy designed to improve monthly performance. It is a long-term investment that strengthens leadership, builds trust, and creates opportunities for continued growth across an organization.
“As a leader, your success eventually becomes tied to the success of the people around you,” he says. “Helping someone build confidence or develop a new skill is just as rewarding as reaching any sales goal because those lessons continue long after the month is over.”
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Dragos believes one principle remains unchanged: organizations that prioritize people alongside performance are better positioned for lasting success.
